mj memorial

You may be tired of Michael Jackson news getting all up in your tech bubble, but we have one last item before we lay the topic (and MJ) to rest—literally. Fans already know that the King of Pop's memorial takes place today at 1pm Eastern Time (10am Pacific), but unless you're a millionaire or somehow have the luck of a lottery winner, you probably don't have a ticket to go see it in person. However, if you're stuck at work with nothing but a computer and an Internet connection, you're not out of luck; there are numerous ways to watch the service live online.

First, the usual suspects. Hulu, which has streamed other major broadcast events like the Presidential Inauguration, is offering a live stream of the MJ memorial beginning at 12:55pm Eastern Time. What's unique about the Hulu stream is that you can embed it in a webpage just like most other Hulu videos. We have faith in Hulu's connection not crapping out, too.

CNN and Facebook have also teamed up to offer a live stream. The page is only accessible from CNN's website as a pop-up (so far as we can tell) with a live updating version of your Facebook page on the right-hand side so you can see what your friends and others watching are saying. This is kind of a neat touch—if you're sick of watching what total strangers are talking about, just flip over to your friends and keep it a private event. CNN's stream is also likely to withstand the Web traffic, so it's a good place to camp out online.
